There really aren’t any set age limits for surgery. However, you must be at least 18 years of age as the breasts are still developing into your early twenties.

Your BMI is important, it mustn’t exceed 35 for implants or reduction.

As there isn’t a hard age limit, you should be aware cosmetic surgery is riskier with age. Also, important to note, as the breasts lose elasticity over time women typically elect implants with a lift. It’s important to bear in mind that you may be advised to have a mammogram prior to surgery as breast cancer is a higher risk with age.

The most common risks include infection or complications due to the surgery, such as breakage and leakage, breast or nipple numbness, chronic breast pain and capsular contracture. There is also a possibility that you may require additional surgery, particularly if cosmetic expectations are not met.

On average manufacturers estimate 10 years for their life expectancy. However, this can vary per person. In some cases, implants can last up to 25 years, while others may need to be replaced as early as two years in case there is a problem such as a fold or rupture.

For the majority of breast surgery procedures only 1-2 nights at the clinic are required.

Every medicinal product and implant used in the Czech Republic has been approved by the State Institute for Drug Control, which carefully monitors quality and in case of doubt will issue a regulation banning the use of the drug or implant. At the present time, the use of textured implants is considered safe and it is not necessary to be concerned about using them or having them removed.

In the event your breasts are extremely asymmetrical, different implant sizes will be used to even out this.

If there is only a minor discrepancy as is the case with most women to have a slight asymmetry, the doctor will shape the breast prior to inserting the implant which would be the same size.

Patients are encouraged to begin walking immediately after surgery. You should be able to resume non-strenuous activities within 7 days. However, women should not perform any intense physical exercise for at least 6 weeks following surgery. Exercise includes jogging, biking and weightlifting, essentially anything which would put too much strain on healing.

You may undergo surgery at any time throughout the year. However, bear in mind if you will have the surgery in the summer months expect that you will not be able to swim or sunbath as there is a special contouring bra which must be worn for 6 weeks.
