Everyone who has eye disease (cataract, glaucoma and others) I can recommend for the treatment DuoVise clinic (Prague, Czech Republic) and surgeon Lubomir Tovarek. The clinic is equipped with modern equipment, it is distinguished by a sensitive attitude of medical staff. There are the citizens of Britain, Germany, Russia and other European countries up to Americans who have eye treatment there. Nearby there are not expensive 3-star hotels where patients can stay.
Having experience of left eye surgery in Ukraine, I chose this clinic to treat cataracts and replace the lens of the right eye. The operation was painless, without any injections, took 15 minutes.
I am very grateful to Dr. Lubomir Tovarek for returning me 100% of the right eye sight, when it was -7 / -8 myopia.
The cost of treatment – the operation to replace the lens of the eye came out about 1800 euros using a laser. Without a laser 2 times cheaper.
The language of communication is Czech and English. Some employees understand the Russian language.
I wish you all good health and success in your treatment!

Tummy tuck and lipo review
I was a bit nervous as I’m from the uk but Lenka was very nice and welcoming she helped me book flights/hotel etc. The hospital is very big and proper I didn’t know if it would be small or what to expect. I had a tummy tuck and liposuction all went well no problems after the only thing was the nurses when I stayed 2 nights in the hospital didn’t speak much English and I didn’t have any good painkillers but other than that it was a good Experiance and glad I done it here as I’ve had great results. It’s been 8 months since my surgery and am very happy with the results i would recommend coming here for surgery if you was looking somehere other than the uk.

Our nice couple from Norway has just welcomed a beautiful baby girl. Congratulations!
The Czech Republic is one of the world leaders in eye surgery. This is for a number of reasons like high standards and lower prices but also thanks to the Czech history with eye surgeries and lenses and also due to a number of procedures done each year which is gradually increasing.
The first reasons why the Czech Republic is one of the world leaders is the fact that the Czech Republic has statistically a high number of procedures done. This is as the patient is well educated about possible procedures and the fact that Czech healthcare system pays most of these procedures. Therefore doctors doing these procedures can specialize in a certain treatment and thus the doctors are more experienced than the doctors outside of the Czech Republic. As well as that, many people travel abroad for an eye operation to the Czech Republic, which increases the overall number of patients and thus doctors gain again many valuable experiences.
The second reason for the Czech Republic to be at the top of the charts is the fact that the Czech Republic has one of the most advanced technology and materials that are being used. Many doctors from the USA travel to the Czech Republic to learn about new procedures done or about new advancement. The reason for this is that the Czech Republic is a world leader in research and development in ophthalmology ( a medical branch dealing with the eyeball and orbit)
A good example of such research and development is a company called Medicem which has developed new lenses that are able to focus on many distances as well as that they function way better under a low-light condition than normal lenses.
Medicem is now developing a newer type of lenses that will age with the eye. This will be achieved by other laser operations which will be fast. The reason why these lenses are important is that we can see an increasing trend in lens replacement surgeries, as well as people, tend to live longer and thus the lenses have to be able to age with the eye. These lenses have to undergo clinical testing which will take around 5-7 years. The leading researcher has said that the research has already cost hundreds of millions of Euros and could not be done without the Czech experts and the tradition in research and development in ophthalmology in the Czech Republic.
As well as that some Czech clinic receive special contracts with manufacturers to be one of the first ones to receive a new product as well as a good price. This is mainly due to the volume of operations made in the Czech Republic. A good example of such companies can be Zeiss lenses which are widely used in the Czech Republic as well as Alcon lenses.
One of the other reasons is the amount of unique operation done. With the eye, there are many unique operations that can be done. This ranges from cosmetic surgery to a vision correction eye operations or to an eye lid operations. A good example of such unique operations is Golden eye sequins. This is when two golden glitters are implanted to the eye with the aid of laser into the eye.
Most doctors also argue that the reason why the Czech Republic is one of the world leaders in ophthalmology and why many people from abroad travel to the Czech Republic are its historical achievement in ophthalmology:
One of the first Czech achievements in ophthalmology was the first successful corneal transplant in 1905 by Edward Zim. This was the first successful organ transplant surgery in the world and was a significant surgery as it was a prove that organ transplant will work and many surgeons have started research in transplanting of other organs. This surgery is still performed today
The other achievement in Czech ophthalmology that is of a great importance in ophthalmology was the development of contact lenses and development of the manufacturing. This was developed by Otto Wichterle in 1961. Otto Wichterle has succeeded in making the first hydrogel contact lenses. He has made them with a homemade machine. In the first 4 months of 1962, he has made over 5500 contact lenses. In 1965 American company has bought rights for manufacturing of contact lenses in the USA. One of such companies was Bausch+Lomb. This exact company that is a clinical testing partner with the new Medicare lenses.
This and other reasons are why the Czech Republic is the best destination for an eye surgery. The best way to undergo a surgery abroad is through an agency like Praga Medica which will organize the whole trip and make the travel abroad a hassle free experience. The best thing about it is that it will not increase the cost of the procedure. Thus going with Praga Medica for and eye surgery abroad or alone to their cooperating clinic will cost you the same amount and maybe traveling without this agency can cost you even more as the travel agency will save your time and make sure that you will avoid all the tourist traps as well as you will get the benefit of cheaper guided tours around Prague.
What can I say other than perfection. I found Dr Vadyn Teeshman after reading lots of reviews from other Patients, and I’m glad I did find him.
My journey started back in New Zealand in 2015 when I asked my, dentist, what would it cost to have 4 implants
8 crowns and 3 bridges, after I picked myself off the floor. I decided that there had to be a cheaper way of getting new teeth, so I started looking at other places around the world. After a lot of reading and visiting many sites I decided on Praga Medica and I’m glad I did. So in, February 2017 I packed my bags and flew from Auckland, New Zealand to Prague 5 days later I had my 4 implants and returned via London back home.
6 months later I returned to Prague for 2 weeks to have the rest of the procedures carried out. I am so happy I chose Dr Vadyn Teeshman and his team, I cannot thank them enough for what they have done.
I have a brand new set of teeth which are perfect and got a lovely 2 week holiday in the Czech Republic as well and I saved myself thousands of dollers as well.

Review – Dentistry – Full reconstruction by zirconia
Once I decided to go abroad for laser eye surgery/ dental work (as it was too lengthy in the UK with multiple visits, and the cost was astronomical) I was very lucky to find Praga Medica and because of the past reviews I had read, I applied for quotes for both procedures.
Jana (vision) and Natalie (dental) both had everything working together so that both procedures would fit in with each other. Whenever I had any questions on either procedure they both were excellent in communicating with me and managed to put my mind at rest.
Once arrived in Prague was met by English speaking driver John,(although traffic was very busy to airport that made him late by nearly 1.5 hours), but he showed me some tourist sights on way to hotel which was nice. He was very pleasant from and to airport.
My first visit to the dental clinic (which was immaculate with state of the art equipment) I was met by Maria who was excellent with her customer care skills by making me feel very welcomed and relaxed. Her hospitality was absolutely great for all of my visits where she constantly made sure I did not want anything. Maria kept me calm during my procedures along with Dr Teleshman.
He explained everything step by step and was extremely settling. I normally have to be sedated in the UK for any dentistry so that was a massive achievement.
If it was not for Dr Teleshman and Maria I do not know if I would have completed the treatment, because of their professionalism I was kept at ease.
I had a dental bridge, crowns/veneers and the results are totally amazing. I am so happy that I found a dentist who is a perfectionist and would recommend Dr Teleshman to anybody who is thinking of going abroad to have dentistry. Anyone reading this review is welcome to contact me of my fantastic experience with Dr Teleshman.
I had trifocal lens replacement with laser on both eyes. Once you go through the pre op exams everything else is straightforward. All doctors and staff were very methodical in getting you seen, and the operation itself was over so quick. (Waiting for the anaesthetic eye drops to take effect takes longer). I did not feel any pain just a bit of discomfort keeping the eye open during procedure. Amazing sight next day when you go for a check up, and you can use mobile and computer without need for glasses!
Both eyes have improved daily since returning to UK with eye drops. Really pleased I took the plunge in going to Prague for both procedures and would give anyone feedback if they are undecided. I can not recommend Praga Medica enough.

Review – Dentistry – Full reconstructions by e.max crowns
‘Come in Mr. Bond, We’ve been expecting you…………
The Praga Medica and Trustpilot reviews run consistently at 5* for eye surgery of differing treatments. I had laser assisted lens replacement with multifocal Alcon lenses 10 days ago. I had paid (actually a lot of money) for assessment at a leading London West End clinic and, frankly felt it all to be a rather humdrum and disjointed process by nice but rather bored and casually dressed optometrists. Then the costs landed. Had I felt ‘loved’ I would probably have signed there and then and queued for what I am sure would have been world class treatment. My friends treated there testify to great success. But I decided that ‘the love’ was more directed to wallet than me. I am sure I was mistaken but that’s how it felt.
The Czech Republic has a long history of excellence in many medical disciplines and is rightfully proud of this history – not least in outstanding dentistry well before the present era. Thus, research led to eye treatment options and the documented history of success of Dr. Tovarek and his team including Dr. Jana Miksovska and Dr. Eva Jerhotova both of whom I saw and whose assessments I greatly appreciated.
So wherein lies the difference apart from money? Frankly in many areas. PM appreciates that having your eyes messed about with is a really scary thought of itself. Mine worked OK but I was getting compromised in my work and hobbies. But PM knows that to have your eyes messed about with far from home in a foreign country with a rather linguistically individual language is doubly scary. So they hold your hand all the way through until the fear evaporates. Jan, super top man, collects you from the airport and takes you to your hotel – usually a short walk from the clinic. And then a charming language student (Anna and then Sharka)collect you from the hotel to make sure you don’t make a run for it. They were there to top up student finances but were every bit as committed as everyone else. A credit to PM in their kindness and diligence.
The DuoVize clinic is in an unpretentious building but, on entering, the staff are professionally attired and conduct themselves with friendly but serious demeanour through the multiple and thorough tests and assessments. The next day features a general medical in an independent clinic and, frankly, I would take the option of bringing along a pre-baked medical from home. The phlebotomist on bloods, I am sure is charming with her mates; it was just that I was obviously not one of them……… so be it.
Onwards to the first treatment where (Sharka – great sense of humour) you get the non-dominant eye operated on first. The ritual has been described in other reviews ad infinitum but basically the nurse (I called her Cruella although she was clearly wonderful) puts repetitive slightly stinging anaesthetic drops in your eyes as you are lined up for your turn when fully numb and dilated. Then you the door opens from what is a rather mundane holding area into a modern state-of-the-art theatre with what must be godzillions of kit – hence the intro – ‘Come in Mr. Bond etc………’ Super modern. On meeting, Dr.Tovarek comes across as someone who wants to be the best in the world at what he does and not just the richest man in the world at what he does. I am far too stupid and have no way of testing that – but felt immediately that, with his nurses, I was in the hands of great competence. Frankly, anyone who tells you it is ho-hum is gilding it a bit. No, it does not hurt but I’m glad I have two eyes and not four. It is soon over – bright lights and swirly things and a subdued and soothing commentary from Dr. T, on with your bandage, sit up, gather your thoughts, collect your clothes and wonder. And wander back to the hotel. I knew I was not blind because I could see the back of the bandage.
Back to the DuoVize clinic the next day – the bandage had fallen off so eye drops de rigeur. I had reached for my glasses to watch the news – hmmm – glasses made it worse. At the clinic with Dr. Eva looking into my eyes (absolutely no hardship there) and then to the printed sheet. Astonishing – I could read the micro print on the bottom line. Rest of the day off and a wander around Prague. Walking fine but a slightly odd sensation as the old brain tries to work out why the non-dominant right eye is suddenly dominant. I tried to walk over a bridge and got fuzzy vertigo and so it was bridge or bar. No guidance on that one.
Next day (the Friday) and back to the surgical building and the repeat process and meeting the familiar faces of your fellow patients with the graveyard humour. Dr T was clearly keen to know about the outcome first op. Then head in the cupped headrest – and the same painless but slightly disconcerting process. Bandage, handshake and back to the hotel via the bistro opposite and – wait.
As before, the bandage gave up – and the room lit up. An early Saturday appointment with Dr Eva and the reading card – all as good as the last one. Jan came to the hotel for the transfer to the airport for a lunchtime flight – to say that he was unable to drive me himself but had brought his wife with their baby (Jacob?) to drive me to the airport – ‘if that’s OK’. More than OK it was such a human touch to round off a very fulfilling experience.
So this has been an over-long narrative for which I offer apologies to those of you still persevering. Snapshot? World class treatment and attention to patient welfare. Professional attitude and conduct. State-of-the-art equipment and expertise as far as I can discern.
Finally, the front office run-up with Helena and Monika – extraordinary client-facing attention to detail and swift responses. With the throughput of the clinic one wonders when they sleep or if they do.

Review – Vision correction – Trifocal lens exchange with LenSX
My boss recently attended Praga Medica for eye surgery. As a PA for 30 years, I would like to express how wonderful their admin service was and how efficiently they run their client contact. I dealt with a lovely lady called Helena, who immediately reply to all questions and queries on email, her English was first class as was her attention to detail. My boss had a very pleasant experience and was extremely well looked after. He is thrilled with the results.

Review – Vision correction – Trifocal lens exchange with LenSX
The 38-year-old TLC documentary star and former big brother star has undergone a laser eye surgery. As well as Jodie Marsh other TV stars have also undergone this surgery.
Jodie Marsh wore her glasses since she was 11 years old. As she wanted to stop wearing lenses and she didn’t want to wear glasses as she said she looks hideous in them. She has decided to undergo this operation. She says that she was a little bit afraid but not that much as she has already undergone a plastic operation before (breast augmentation).
Jodie Marsh was surprised by the fact how fast the procedure was and couldn’t believe the fact that it was done so fast and she is very satisfied with the operation as she can finally see without any aid. She said that she doesn’t even recall how does it feel to see without any aid.
She is not the only one to undergo a laser eye surgery. One of these stars is Elton John. Elton John has undergone this procedure not only for the same reason as Jodie but also because his outfits always include a pair of gaudy costume glasses. This has forced his team to always remake these glasses and switch the normal lenses for prescription lenses which has increase the cost and was very time-consuming. As he says “ Do you have any idea how expensive it is to fit 5,000 pairs of gaudy custom glasses with prescription lenses?” As we can clearly see one of the main reasons for Elton John to undergo such operation was to save money and time with preparing of his outfits.
The F.R.I.E.N.D.S star Courtney Cox also underwent laser eye surgery as she wanted to stop wearing glasses while reading a script. She has said that sometimes she forgot her glasses and it was a disaster as she could not read without them.
Nicole Kidman has undergone LASIK surgery so that she doesn’t need glasses while having an acceptance speech for winning an Academy Awards.
Kim Kardashian always loved to wear glasses and she loved the way she looked in them but after she realized that Kayne’s song, Guilt Trip was about him wanting to tell her he hated them, she quickly scheduled her LASIK eye surgery to fix her vision.
The other stars that underwent laser eye surgery are: Tiger Woods ( he believes that laser eye operation has helped him with golf), LeBron James, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon (she has made the decision after the movie legally blond), Brooke Shields Jessica Simpson, Kathy Griffin and many more.
As we can see many stars have undergone this type of procedure for several reasons. All of them have agreed that it was not an unpleasant experience and that they are very satisfied with the procedure and they can’t stop enjoying the fact that they do not have to wear glasses nor contact lenses. Laser eye surgery is a very common procedure and most of the people who wear glasses since their childhood tend to undergo this procedure.
US and South Korean scientists have developed a new technique using CRISPR technology that can prevent up to 10 000 disorders that are passed down the generations.
Scientists from this international team have for the first time removed a piece of faulty DNA that causes a deadly heart disease to run in families. They have achieved this without introducing harmful mutations which were one of the main problems in previous attempts.
The study was done by taking a sperm from a man with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy that was injected into healthy donated eggs alongside CRISPR technology was used to correct the defect. At the end of the experiment, most of the embryos were free from disease causing mutations.
This has not only allowed for the individual to not express the gene but also for reduction of the burden of this heritable disease on the family and eventually the human population. Patients affected by another disease than the one stated above that can benefit from such discovery are Huntington’s disease, cystic fibrosis and cases of breast and ovarian cancer caused by mutations in the BRCA genes. Potentially it can also help to an inherited form of Alzheimer’s disease and other diseases which are inherited.
They have achieved this by using CRISPR method which is based on the prokaryotic (bacterial) immune system where it inactivates certain genes. CRISPR was first used to change mosquitos so they cannot transmit diseases such as malaria. In the end of 2014 more than 600 studies were written about CRISPR technology to functionally inactivate genes in human cell lines and cells. CRISPR was named the breakthrough of the year 2015.
This new technique is primarily going to be used in the future for IVF embryos in order to ensure a healthy baby and also to eliminate diseases from our population. Many people fear that this method is going to be for more wealthy individuals and that it can cause certain individuals that come from these families to be better off in their life as they will be “super babies”. Czech IVF specialists have said that this method is not as expensive to perform as people think as well as when it will be used in IVF testing, economies of scale will apply to this method thus reduce the price.

Couldnt have been a smoother experience from the airport pick up to the appointments everything was excellent. Friendly staff and a beautiful city. operation was explained thoroughly so there was no doubt as to exactly what was going to be done. Whole thing was painless and very successful. Huge thank you to all the team at Praga Medica!
