Frequently Asked Questions

What is the process of RLE (Refractive Lens Exchange)?

Quite painlessly, the RLE and PRELEX are performed in the operating theatre of the outpatient clinic and the surgery takes about 10 minutes. After all necessary administrative issues are dealt with at the reception desk, you will be seated in a comfortable seat where the eye will get totally insensitive with anaesthetic drops within approximately 30 minutes. The pupil of the eye operated on is dilated with drops. This is followed by an interview with the doctor and then by the actual surgery. The surgery takes place in lying position on a comfortable couch. You don't need to worry about how you will manage not to blink for the whole surgery. Your eyelids will be gently held by a flexible device. The actual surgery takes 7 to 15 minutes. The nurse will put a plaster over your eye at the end of the surgery. You can leave home immediately after a short rest in the comfortable armchair. Before you leave, our employees will instruct you what to do in the following hours and days. On the day of surgery, you will spend the total of 1 to 2 hours at the clinic.
