Frequently Asked Questions

Can I smoke and drink alcohol?

If you are a heavy smoker, you won't probably give up a cigarette after the surgery. Take account of the fact that in the first hours after the surgery smoke from cigarettes may cause your eyes to tear and burn. Reasonable amount of alcohol is not harmful for the eye. If you drink one or two beers after you come home on the day of surgery and then you fall asleep for 2 to 3 hours, it is perhaps the best you can do for your eyes. Shhh - don't say it to anyone - some sworn enemies of alcohol might be angry with us because of the advice. Note - never combine alcohol with painkillers or sleeping pills.
