Hello everyone! I recommend this clinic to all the people! Everything has been amazing! A big thank you you to Veronica Chvatalova. She organized everything for me, she been really fast and nice. 10+! Jiri Padera, the surgeon, he explained everything to me and did a perfect job!! I am really happy with Praga Medica!
22nd November 2013
Zdenek Dvorak, Managing Director at Praga Medica kindly gave a short interview about Gest IVF in Prague and also their about service to people travelling to Gest IVF clinic for IVF treatment.
1) Prague is a very popular place for IVF treatment for people from abroad. Why do you think that is?
Prague is a safe modern Central European city with a beautiful old town and rich history. Czech medical care is of the highest standards, making it a good place for the medical tourism in general. The Czech republic is well known in the world for quality IVF treatment and particularly for high success rates with anonymous egg and embryo donation.
There are IVF clinics all over the world, some cheaper than Prague clinics. However, Prague has many benefits that beat any other location: be it an ideal location in the heart of Europe, good public transport, modern facilities, high quality IVF treatment and UNESCO enlisted cultural heritage. Our clinic is just 20 min. drive from Prague International Airport and many UK patients say it is actually faster to get from their home to our clinic than to a clinic in central London.
2) Gest is a very established IVF clinic. Can you tell me a bit about what Gest offers people seeking IVF and egg donation? What makes it different from other IVF clinics?
Most of our patients (especially those from UK) appraise the friendly atmosphere and personal approach. The clinic is relatively small, but very efficiently run, so there are not the usual barriers between patients and doctors. Apart from the helpful doctors every international patient of PRAGA MEDICA has a personal assistant, adding a VIP feeling to his/her stay. As one of our patients said: “You always have enough information, you can always call someone and ask if necessary”. You are simply not treated as a number, but as a human being.
And, of course, we have reasonable prices, very good results and very short waiting times for egg and embryo donation.
3) What kind of support if offered to patients who travel from abroad?
GEST has an exclusive cooperation with a medical tourism facilitator PRAGA MEDICA. International patients can therefore enjoy extraordinary personal assistance, ranging from arranging their stay to psychological support during their treatment. We offer accommodation in our time-tested apartment houses and hotels, always close to the clinic and within walking distance from the beautiful city center. We are able to arrange your transportation in Prague as well as a wide range of tourist activities. Our drivers will pick you up at the airport day and night.
4) Would you always respect a couple’s wishes for a particular treatment, or would you suggest another treatment if it was more suitable in your opinion. For example a couple may want IVF using their own eggs but you may consider that egg quality may be too poor and that egg donation is best. How do you deal with this situation?
We respect patient’s wishes thus we usually agree with the treatment even in situations where the chances are lower. On the other hand patients are always explained what consequences their wishes may carry. We refuse patients who want illegal procedures such as PGD for gender selection or wishes that may result hazardous for the patient.
Your example with donor eggs is one of the more common cases. Some older patients simply do not want to hear that their chances can be as low as 1% using own eggs while they could have over 50% chance with donor eggs.
5) Which particular aspect of treatment do you consider to be the most important in order to have a successful outcome?
Patients should arrive relaxed as much as possible. We believe stress is a killer of success. For that reason we always spend a lot of time in advance preparing the patient for the arrival to our clinic. We advise patients to come over for 1 day personal consultation to meet the doctor, their personal assistant and to get familiar with the clinic and the city. Patients rest for 1 hour after the embryo transfer in our rest room and they are advised to relax in the hotel for 1 night before they fly back home. Although patients tend to shorten their stay as much as possible they should understand IVF cannot be done in a rush.
6) Are there any preparations that a couple should do before travelling abroad for IVF?
A crucial part of any preparations is to choose the right clinic. Patients should check references of the clinic and their doctors. They should make their decision after they have been answered all their questions and they have spoken to the representative of the clinic. This will give them a good picture of who they are dealing with.
Another important detail is to have all the recommended tests and examinations, such as hormonal profile, STD tests etc. However, if patients split their treatment in 2 shorter visits, these tests can be done abroad on the 1st visit, usually at much lower cost than at home.
7) Finally, Prague is beautiful, Is there somewhere you would recommend visiting in Prague not to be missed?
There are probably 1000 things to see. You could spend 2 weeks in Prague and still be entertained. I would definitely recommend a night walk from the 14th century St Vitus catedral to the Old town square. The views over 100 towers of the old town are spectacular. You will see the baroque buildings of Lesser Town, walk over the famous Charles bridge with its 30 statues, enjoy a breath-taking view of impressively lit Prague Castle before entering narrow lanes of the Prague Old town. It is especially poetic at night.
Thank you Zdenek.

Ryanair announced opening of new routes to Prague. Dublin-Prague route will also be reopened beginning of April 2014.
You can now save on average 5-7% on the treatment costs as a result of a significant change of the exchange rate between the local Czech currency CZK and other currencies, such as EUR, GBP and USD. These savings can pay e.g. for your flights or accommodation.
I’m very pleased with the treatment and the services of Monica. All went as I was told it would do. I had the cataract surgery, then the wife and I went sightseeing around Prague.

At first I am much scared because of having not experience yet and full of doubt and trust is not that high, but it turns out everything was in a professional way, especially those medical practitioner who conducted the operation, Many thanks to them.

I have to say i was very pleased by my visit in Prague and how it all went down. The coordinators were very efficient and made you feel
comfortable throughout the whole process. The surgeon and the nurses were very nice and there was never a problem of communication in

I can’t recommend this clinic enough. From our very first phone call going through our medical history till the visit we had in Prague with our consultant, everything was perfect. Every communication I have had with the clinic has been quick, informative and and very friendly. After all these years of trying and being treated like a number this clinic really cares about your situation. We decided to take the service package for our visit to Prague and this was amazing. Our flight was in late, but our driver was there and waiting for us at the airport and showed us to our hotel. Next morning our driver collected us promptly at the hotel and took us to the clinic where we were met by Zdenek (nice to put a face to all the phone calls). What can I say; he was an absolute God send, not only did he stay with us and answer all our questions but he also helped us giving us maps of plague and advising us of the best tourist places to see. It was nice to speak to such genuine and lovely people. We were then taken into a room to speak to doctor Monika Polakova, such a wonderful individual. She immediately set my mind at ease and explained every procedure and the costs involved. Advising what was best for our individual circumstances. I don’t think I have ever been treated with such understanding and friendliness. We had a wonderful stay in Prague and are booked to go back in February for my egg donation and can’t wait. An amazing group of people. I can’t praise them enough. Thank you so much for all you’ve done for us already.

From Start to finish, I could not fault the treatment from the Dr, and staff. The clinic was superb .Its only been12days since my op so
I still have a little more healing to do, but the results I can see are very pleasing. A special thanks to Maria, Veronike and to Dr
Padera who did the operation. I would certainly recommend this clinic for treatment abroad. I did not have all the treatment I had hoped
for, but the recommendation to have an alternative option was very acceptable and was arranged for me without any hassle. Thank you

I was quite nervous approaching a clinic abroad for such a life changing procedure. However, I need not have worried, from my initial e mail, right through to the egg transfer, we were well informed and looked after. I am a nurse and took great comfort from the set up of the clinic and the professionalism of our consultant, Dr Alexander. Any questions I had were promptly answered by Jana and I was amazed at just how smoothly everything went. I could not find fault with our experience. We had 2 day 5 blastocysts transferred on Oct 23rd, and another 4 frozen- so fingers and toes crossed!

I was very happy with Praga Medica and Gest Clinic. I found them to be very helpful and if I had any questions or doubts, it was very easy to communicate with them and they always answered my questions to my satisfaction. The arrangements of hotels and travel in Prague was very efficient and it was a relief that I did not have to worry about this or have any stress on it. The price was really good, much cheaper than in the UK, and the level of service and expertise was excellent. All the staff were very friendly and professional and I would definitely recommend them.

We had a very positive experience with Praga Medica. We definitely recommend it, mainly because of the high level of professionalism of the doctors and nurses, as well as the professionalism and politeness of consultants like Zdenek, who helped us with any issue during our IVF treatment in Praga.

Extremely pleased with the service. I met with very friendly staff and had everything explained very well. I would certainly recommend this clinic to anyone and the results of my eye treatment have been fantastic, much better than I ever hoped for.

After our initial contact with the clinic only 7 months ago and visiting Prague for donor egg IVF 3 weeks ago, we have just had a positive pregnancy test result! We are delighted. The clinic is very efficiently run and professional, as was everyone who was involved in our treatment. I would obviously highly recommend Praga Medica.

ICSI – Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection
The team are excellent in Prague and l couldn’t have asked for better. They gave me the best advice on what was best for me to get a good result and it has worked and being 48 years old my odds were less than normal. l had a failed IVF in Barcelona and I knew it was going to fail as their attitude was all wrong. Prague was dedicated to try and give me the best results and they did it worked. I booked the package with the taxi, this takes away so much stress and I advise everyone to do that. Prague is such a beautiful place and I would recommend this clinic to anyone.

The clinic looks immaculately clean and very modern. The staff was very helpful and very friendly. Great thanks to Maria, who looked
after my daughter during the operation. Took her outside for a walk and play, so I didn’t have to worry about her, and she wasn’t bored
waiting for me. Big thanks to Zdenek as well. From the very first day I contacted to clinic he was always in touch with me. Replied to
every my email straight away in a very professional manner. And a huge thanks to dr.Pros. He’s done a great job .I can’t believe how
much better I look now. I had ear pinning and earlobe reduction .It’s amazing how little things can make a very big difference. And the
operation was very quick and absolutely painless. I would definitely recommend this clinic to everyone.

Earlobe reduction and Ear pinning
I have received good news, after the 14 day wait for a pregnancy test we had a positive result after a single blastocyst transfer. I cannot recommend the clinic highly enough, everything from the doctors, embryologist, our wonderful, helpful coordinator Jana (who I could not have managed without) and the friendly driver John has been excellent. I have been to other clinics as this was my 6th IVF attempt and our 2nd donor attempt and I wish I had never gone to Barcelona for treatment and had come straight to Prague from the start, as everything was so much better and more transparent. I trusted this clinic and they have delivered a positive result on a single embryo being transferred. I was impressed with the price, we paid approx £3080 for shared donor eggs. We received 4 eggs and 2 made it to blastocyst. I chose to have 1 replaced and 1 was frozen for the future. If you are sitting wondering what to do and think you would like to do this but are worried, please telephone this clinic for an appointment and I am sure they will help put your mind at rest and give professional advice and treatment if you decided to go ahead with it. It really was easy with the donor egg route and the transfer was quick and painless. All the facilities were clean and spotless and I felt the doctor really wanted to help us and he gave my hand a massive squeeze when he finished the transfer. Another positive was I was allowed to lie down flat and rest for 1 hour after the transfer which has never happened before. it really was a good experience and if you really want a child you should consider this as a very worthwhile option.

My husband and I both decided to have RLE Surgery using Praga Medica in Prague and the level of service provided throughout was outstanding. David was extremely efficient and ensured all the arrangements were in place for our visit. We were provided with precise details of the planned treatment and a full breakdown of the costs, including the hotel accommodation. When we arrived in Prague, we were met by Jan and taken to the hotel. Over the next few days, David and Monica escorted us to the medical appointments at the various clinics. The medical care throughout the whole process was excellent, extremely professional and the end results superb. The hotel, situated just off Wenceslas Square, was really nice and provided an excellent hot breakfast. Jan picked us up from the hotel and took us to the Airport when it was time to return to the UK. We fully recommend Praga Medica without hesitation and are extremely happy with the results we obtained.

RLE surgery with LenSx
I found the team very efficient and dedicated. Communication was excellent at all times. On our arrival, we were picked up at the airport, which cut down on the stress of trying to find our way around a new city. We were driven to the clinic the next morning by the company’s attentive and friendly driver. The doctor was kind and, importantly, keen to help give us the family we so dearly want. I didn’t get the impression that profit comes before people here at all. The clinic was immaculate. My only small concern was that the ‘take home’ medication wasn’t available at the clinic after the transfer. This was resolved quite quickly though. The co-ordinator Jana was very pleasant and professional throughout this process. I would definitely recommend this.

FET Frozen Embryo Transfer
It is difficult to write a review without it sounding exactly like all of the others, however the other reviews seem very accurate, which is why we chose Praga Medica & the Gest clinic. Jana was our first point of contact and throughout the whole process has been excellent on every level, very thorough and friendly with her responses. In the most part Jana has that special ingredient called ‘compassion’ and as a co-ordinator for Praga Medica they should be very proud to have her representing them, an exceptionally lovely person! Dr Monika Polakova communicates clearly and reassuringly with the medical facts, black, white, no grey areas, we liked her very much. I would say trust in the instructions given by the clinic as they are very experienced. Sometimes information in the UK can conflict with what the clinic advises, but it is important to realise Dr’s do things differently in different countries. We have not had standard IVF before, instead we have opted straight for donor due to my age. ‘What happens during the actual transfer?’ would be the only thing that would have been useful to know in advance in terms of the actual procedure on the day. The travel transfer package is worth paying a little extra for to take away any stress before, during and after the procedure. You will also be given a phone so they are always in touch with you. Really, it is a very simple process, buying a double-scoop ice-cream in Prague is probably more difficult than having an egg donor transfer, so relax! It is too early for us to test for a result, but we remain positive. We must thank all of the team at Gest, including Dr Zetova. Thanks also to Jan, our driver. Also make time to explore beautiful Prague, the exercise is good, pre-transfer!

Egg Donor IVF
Very professional, looked after from the moment we stepped off the plane. Driver Jon met us at the airport, took us to the hotel and gave us some tips on places to eat, and shops we might need. Picked up the next day for the treatment, and taken to the the clinic and found a clean and professional environment. Jana, the patient co-ordinator, was always available at the end of the mobile phone that was given to us when we arrived. I was very wary about this but need not have been. Fingers crossed for the treatment, ten days until the test.

We were very happy with the service received. We felt totally at ease during the whole procedure from the initial telephone conversation to the treatment. The service provided from the first point of contact to the end of our treatment was outstanding. Constant communication from Jana with helping us book our trip, from airport pick up to sorting out our accommodation. The staff at the clinic also were great explaining everything that would happen step by step. Dr Polakova treated me and she was great again explaining everything and putting me at ease. We arrived home from Prague 3 weeks ago and are delighted to get a positive test result with my GP confirming it also. We have waited years for this and I cannot thank the clinic enough and I certainly would recommend to all

When myself and my partner arrived, we were met by driver John. He was lovely & made great effort to make conversation. John helped us book into our hotel. On the morning of surgery we met Veronika, she was also lovely & a great help & support from start to finish. The clinic was great, clean and fresh. The staff were also really friendly, despite some not speaking good English. I did feel the first consultation with the surgeon, Dr Padera, was rushed & didn’t get a chance to ask any questions. Tonight’s stay was good & I was fine to go back to hotel. I enjoyed Prague & the experience there & would definitely recommend it. I might even go back!!

If you are looking for a short trip to Prague surroundings, a visit to Dobris and its rococo chateau is a good tip. The chateau is easily accessible, has a wide mirror hall (220 square meters) and a well-kept French Park. Visitors can reach Dobris from Prague by car in 40 minutes. Great views on Vltava and Berounka river can be added to the itinerary for a full day trip to the hilly area of Brdy.

Veronika Chvatalova was a great help and correspondence was very swift and helpful. All prices quoted were exact and the Clinic and all staff were highly professional; it was a dream. I was very pleased with the help support and guidance from Zdenek who was very reassuring and helpful; I couldn’t have asked for anyone better. I have been very happy with my treatment and am already seeing great results; I wish I would have done it sooner! I would highly recommend Praga Medica to anyone for not only a first class service but the total cost including travel and accommodation were way below that offered in the U.K. Many thanks.

IVF Egg Donor and ICSI
After a successful TESE surgery earlier this year, we went for our IVF transfer to the GEST clinic in Prague. During this time we kept in good contact with both the clinic and with Jana of Praga Medica, for the synchronisation with the donor, and for the medication details. In Prague we availed of the full service package, which meant that we had all our transport between airport, clinic and hotel organised and paid for, taking that stress out completely. We felt treated like VIPs, making the experience very pleasant. Everyone at the clinic is professional and helpful, we got good explanations of what was going to happen every time. The same for Jana and her colleagues (Zdenek, David) at Praga Medica. No question is too much trouble, we always got the answers. To have a reliable team of friendly professionals to help us with such a personal business, we found it invaluable. I strong recommend Praga Medica to anyone going the IVF route. Thank you Jana for looking after us so well.

First, I will like to say thanks to the Doctors who work at your clinic. I have been going to different Eye Doctors and Eye Clinics and I have not seen any like this. My experience was really excellent. Overall communication and the treatment was the best I have ever seen in my life so far. I was really pleased. You will see it, that they are ready for work, and they know why they’re there. Ready to help you in any way. This makes me happy that my going there was not for nothing, it’s for good.

I travelled to Prague from London to undergo refractive lens exchange. From start to finish, my dealings with Praga Medica and their partner clinic were helpful and professional. For the listed price for the treatment and a small fee for additional services, I received the medical treatment, a return trip from the airport and the services of an assistant to guide us to the right locations and, where necessary, act as an interpreter. Our assistant, Monika, made what was a potentially stressful process so much easier and was great company in the waiting room. After wearing glasses since age 5, I am now glasses free, hopefully for life, thanks to some talented medical professionals in the Czech Republic. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them or use them again.

I am beyond over the moon with the treatment I received, it was outstanding. I was afraid at first to be alone in another country, but was at once put at ease and received such kindness, especially from Monika who looked after me so well. My eyesight now is amazing. To go from not being able to even read the top line on the eye chart to being able to read all of it now is beyond words. All I can say is do it, just do it! You won’t regret it!

I can sum up my first experience with plastic surgery and Praga Medica in Prague in two words “perfect experience.” From my first
contact with Veronika, the companies international patient coordinator, to my final consultation with Dr Padèra who performed my upper
and lower eyelid reduction surgery (Blepharoplasty) it was all exactly as promised and more than worth the money. Veronika was only an
e-mail or phone call away and responded quickly to answer all of my questions, and I had plenty, and to help make all of my other
arrangements. This included hotel, transportation and a city tour booking ensuring I received VIP service at all times. The clinic was
professionally staffed and up to standards I would have expected from any modern London clinic and operating theatre. Everyone
associated with Praga Medica from John who picked me up at the airport, to Veronika who meet me at the hotel and escorted me to the
clinic (and back again), to the receptionist and the nurses they all made me feel comfortable and well taken care of during every stage
of the procedure. Most impressive was when I asked about, and was more than willing to pay for; liposuction Veronica advised me that Dr
Padèra deemed it unnecessary and stated that it would not be that effective. He instead advised me to eat less and exercise more
instead of just taking my money which many other clinics I researched were more than happy to do. What can I say about having a great
holiday in Prague and coming home looking twenty years younger but thanks Praga Medica.

Upper and Lower eyelid reduction
The over all experience was more than we could have wished for, Jana and her team were extremely supportive, always there on the end of a phone or email for reasurance or advice. The doctors and embryologists were fantastic too, through translators they answered all questions asked. The fee was just what they said all along and much cheaper than the uk. We can’t thank the staff enough for all they have done, from the taxi drivers to the doctors, but especially Jana, as without her we would of really struggled. We would, without a doubt, recommend this clinic to anyone thinking of having fertility treatment. Many thanks

We were very happy with our experience at Praga Medica. We were kept informed of the procedures by Zdenek and Dr Alexander the whole time during both our visits. Any questions were answered promptly and they were all very helpful. We chose the transfer service during our 2nd visit and we were met at the airport by Jon and this included trips to and from the clinic. Prague is a wonderful city to visit and to top it all off we received a positive pregnancy test!) thank you! I recommend visiting this clinic.

From landing to take off, everything went exactly as planned. Monika and her team made sure that I was in competent hands for the entire duration of my staying in Prague. My reason for spending a week there was the RLE treatment of both eyes. The doctors and the nurses of the clinic made me feel confident that we had a proven path to a complete success. Both surgeries were conducted by Dr. Tovarek who is a real sensei. It was such a great experience, it is a pity that with so great people and at such a great place lasted only a week.

RLE refractive lens exchange
I have wanted a blepharoplasty for many years and my first thought when seeing the results of the operation was ‘I wish I had had it
done earlier’ If you have had eye bags and droopy lids for decades like me, seeing eye lids and no bags for the first time is wonderful.
Prague offers very good value for money, I researched surgeons thoroughly and chose Dr Lukas Frajer who is a very capable surgeon. A
friend of mine (senior NHS nurse) commented that he had done an excellent job. I received brilliant support from John the driver, who
transported me to and from the airport and from Veronika, who was very supportive during my stay, available via mobile phone, and even
volunteered to help me on a Saturday. I had twilight anaesthesia which I would recommend as I knew nothing about the operation and
felt no pain. Getting my stitches out in the UK was the most painful part, and I would recommend staying long enough in Prague to get
your stitches taken out, and to enable a proper post operative consultation. I’d also recommend staying in self catering accomodation,
as I did look very bruised and battered for 6 days post op and it was nice to relax at home and not have to go out to restaurants

Astigmatism might be the most misunderstood vision problem. Even the name is challenging to many people, who incorrectly call it “stigmatism.”
Like nearsightedness and farsightedness, astigmatism is a refractive error, meaning it is not an eye health problem; it simply is a problem with how the eye focuses light.
In an eye with astigmatism, light fails to come to a single focus on the retina to produce clear vision. Instead, multiple focus points occur, either in front of or behind the retina (or both).
