- What is the process of intraocular contact lens (ICL) implantation?
Quite painlessly, the intraocular contact lens is implanted in the operating theatre of the outpatient clinic and the surgery takes about 10 minutes. After all necessary administrative issues are dealt with at the reception desk, you will be seated in a comfortable seat where the eye will get totally insensitive with anaesthetic drops within approximately 30 minutes. The pupil of the eye operated on is dilated with drops. This is followed by an interview with the doctor and then by the actual surgery. The surgery takes place in lying position on a comfortable ergonomic couch. You don't need to worry about how you will manage not to blink for the whole surgery. Your eyelids will be gently held by a flexible device. The actual surgery takes 5 to 7 minutes. In 2 hours after the surgery, the doctor will check the condition of the eye operated on instruct you about what to do in the following hours and days. On the day of surgery, you will spend the total of 3 to 5 hours at the clinic
